Kriya Yoga Initiations

Kriya Yoga initiation is an event where you can deeply immerse yourself in and commit to the ancient wisdom of the siddhas about the essence of yoga and the human journey towards complete self-realization. This initiation is based on the teachings of siddha Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras and ancient yoga knowledge to achieve the highest goal of human evolution – kaivalya.

Patanjali’s classical yoga system consists of an eightfold path:

  • Yama: moral principles
  • Niyama: ethical guidelines
  • Asana: postures
  • Pranayama: breathing techniques
  • Pratyahara: withdrawal of the five senses and control of the awareness
  • Dharana: concentration
  • Dhyana: meditation
  • Samadhi: supreme state of consciousness

These eight limbs of yoga form the foundation for inner development, moving from the external to the internal.

The development of a yoga practitioner is supported by developing five inner qualities: trust in one’s own knowledge, active engagement, mindfulness, concentration, and deeper understanding. These qualities create a comprehensive framework that support yogis journey towards enlightenment and are applied through the eightfold path of yoga.

The stages of yoga practice follow a following sequence:

  1. Trust based on understanding is the first step, forming the foundation for personal growth and realisation of the goal. Each step builds a strong base for the next, allowing the journey to continue smoothly.
  2. Understanding the need for self-reconstruction and practice creates the next step in calming the consciousness, using techniques of release and calming, self-examination, and avoiding immersion in experiences, to achieve lasting peace and clarity.
  3. Maintaining appropriate energy for progress helps to securely overcome obstacles that come along during the times of transformation.
  4. Calming the consciousness naturally brings about inherent mindfulness, concentration, discernment, understanding, and the experience of positive energy, resulting in inner peace.
  5. From this level, it is possible for the yogi to take the next step and enter the phase of absorption of consciousness, leading to an expanded state of consciousness and access to inner wisdom.
  6. Developing in this way, a person acts consciously and with full awareness, applying inner wisdom at all levels of life. At this level, additional abilities naturally manifest.

Practicing Kriya Yoga aligns with the eightfold path of yoga, helping you achieve complete self-realization. Kriya, as a conscious action, involves the purposeful application of the qualities of consciousness and awareness, leading to the formation of inner peace and the emergence of mindfulness. A calm consciousness enables persistent concentration and deepening, bringing about deeper knowledge and insights that transform you on all levels. In this process, moral principles and ethical behaviours become a natural part of life, fostering peace, concentration, and meditation. Increasing mindfulness and energy control enhance practices and meditations, revealing the deeper quality of each stage and leading you to the highest goal – kaivalya.

Yogis willpower and motivation for practicing and intensifying practices arise from personal insights, changes, and the acknowledgment of experiences. This natural willpower develops through growth, deep knowledge, and increasing self-awareness.

During the Kriya Yoga initiation, you will receive knowledge that supports all stages of the eightfold path with practices and insights. After the initiation, regular satsangs are held to support daily practice and deepen your experiences.

Kriya Yoga initiations are conducted by Acharya Ingvar Villido Ishwarananda.
